...shaif's white wedding...

last sunday night, i went to Shaif's white wedding dinner reception at Kampung Pengantin Kuala Lumpur...it was a grand event attended by close relatives, friends and colleagues...Shaif was one of my PIPE II friend - Janda Baik groupmate...he's also quite an active member for EXCITE (once upon a time in PMU)...recently, Shaif has moved to PCSB...

...me...

...Pipah...

the event started off with the lovely couple (Shaif & Elin) paraded in to the grand high dinner table with a background keyboard playing to the tune of 'Love Story'...once they reached the high table, an Ustaz was called to bless the occasion with the doa recital...then, we were shown a slideshow presentation of Shaif's solemnization event which took place at Elin's hometown in Malacca the previous week...

...our dinner table...

Pipah and me shared a table with 3 of Shaif's former bosses from PMU...later, our friends joined in which includes Farrah Iz, Nik & Marissa as well as Khairool & Wir...we were well-served with Nasi Minyak accompanied by 3 dishes consists of Red Gravy Chicken, Beef Rendang and Sweet & Sour Fried Fish together with 2 kinds of gravy - Lentil Curry and Tomato Chutney plus Cucumber and Pineapple Vinegar Pickles...we really enjoyed our meals as it was raining...hee...and the guests were also entertained by Elin's friends - 'The Tangerines' throughout the dinner...they sang a mix round of ballads...i enjoyed listening to 'Linger' and also a chic performance of 'Tiru Macam Saya'...

...the Tangerines...

...three sweeties - FarrahIz, me and Pipah...

in the middle of the night, Raja Badrin or Abang came into the limelight to share some words of wisdom - 10 things you should know about Shaif...then, it was the 3-tiers cake cutting ceremony...during this time, we were served with vanilla ice cream with mint leaf...

...Shaif & Elin - cake cutting ceremony...

the whole event ended nearly 1030pm...we didn't stay long for the photo session at the dais located at the preparation room and ended up taking a quick shot during taking leave at the exit...to Shaif & Elin - wishing both of you love of a lifetime...

...taman maju night market...

yesterday,Intan finally submitted 5 copies of her draft MSc thesis…at around 1130pm, we went to ipoh to celebrate…our plan was to watch ‘Madagascar - Escape 2 Africa’…yeay...i like to move it move it...

we secured our seats for the 130pm showtime…the cinema was jam-packed with children (school holidays – as expected)…anyway, i’m happy happy as the movie ticket here was rm6 only…

before the show, we had our lunch at Secret Recipe…i only had mushroom soup with ice lemon tea since i’m still full after having fried meehoon for breakfast…Intan ordered her favourite beef lasagna…the service was quite poor…after waiting for quite sometime, we were eased by the ‘on the house’ appetizer…we were given the tapioca chips served with Thai chilli sauce dip…that could actually costs us another RM4 minus the taxes…huhuhu…

Madagascar 2 was an awesome movie… i enjoyed the early part where the gang were having extreme plane journey with the Skipper’s group ‘Penguin Air’ flight…i laughed most of the time…there were also a lot of touching moments – parents & child, friendship values, friends’ love…the plot was light and lasted for merely 1.5 hours…

after the movie, we went to perform our Zohor prayer…since it was still early, i went to the Center Court to have a peek at the ‘Popular Book Fair’…yeay…happy happy too because i got a real deal of three books for less than rm70…it was like buying 2 books and get 1 for free…i bought Danielle Steel – Sisters, Dorothy Koomson – My Best Friend’s Girl and a compilation by David Tong: Laughter, the best Malaysian…these has added to my ‘yet to read’ booklist…9 altogether, okay…and i’m eyeing to purchase 4 more books that i’ve surveyed at MPH recently…what to do…what to do…so much to read, so little time…i need long holidays…just for me and my books…lalalalala… Intan and me decided to have our Asar prayer before heading back…

because of the good weather that evening, we stopped at the J&E Car Wash Centre in front of the Courts next to Kinta City…ryan had a standard bath for rm10…expensive laa wei…in KL, ryan could get a better bath for rm8 at Caltex station (near the traffic light junction at Wangsa Maju LRT station)…the best absolutely is in Klang, rm5 only (at Kay SS Car Wash)…i’m not comparing based on the price, okay…the quality is more or less the same…i don’t see any difference as each of them is using the Snow Wash technique…they puffed the soap from the machine…they are also using the same conventional vacuum cleaner…logically the one giving you the lowest price is the best, right?!! enough said…

at around 530pm, we were on our way back to UTP…ohh…wait…it was Wednesday evening and the weather was fine…it was time for Taman Maju night market – my routine when i was in my undergrad years…i really missed those times…and guess what, when Abie and me were in our 1st year, we cycled (seriously we cycled) to Taman Maju to get to the night market…ohh yaa…Harni, do you still remember? sometimes, you do follow us, right? we went straight there after having our lab session at Block B (now – UTP Gymnasium)…i still can’t believe we used to cycle…hohoho…a long, long way man…even with cars…how can we cycle back then?!! whoaa..i’m impressed with myself right now…kuangkuangkuang…

during my 2nd year, it was Uncle Devan’s bus time…rm1 for return trip…

in my 3rd year onwards, Shin Chan was already with me and retentate…

hurmm...what is so special with Taman Maju night market?!! definitely of the fairs that i can’t find in any night markets in KL…

let’s start with my favourite kebab stall – Nur Ain Atikah Kebab Ayam…I always ordered the Pita Bread Chicken Kebab without mayonnaise and chilli sauce (tomato ketchup, please)…ohh...so heavenly...
next, the famous ‘Rojak Berkat’…the pakciks usually had already pre-packed either rm2 or rm3 rojak items but my girlfriends and i prefer to choose our own combinations…then only we get to opt for the rubber squid and fried small fishballs…
for heavy main course, Abie used to buy either Beriyani Rice or Tomato Rice from this ‘Pak Cik Topi’ stall…he got that name simply because he is the pakcik who wears a cowboy hat…i love Kerabu Rice with roasted beef from this Kelantanese family stall…however, you need to get there early to avoid long queue… the best Yong Tau Foo soup version is at Chef Kadir Yong Tau Foo stall…Beebee loves the ‘kain buruk’ and i like the soft stuffed tofu…they give you the hot shrimp paste sauce if you opt for the soup version…or you may go with the normal honey peanut sauce…the best noodle soup (be it mee, meehoon, kuey teow) can be found at this Indonesian lady stall…soto are nice too because of the power of the soup…
however, i usually buy Satay Padang at this stall…it is very very nice and different from our normal satay…Satay Padang is a serving of marinated, grilled beef satays with pressed rice together with thick, spicy herbs sauce and beef floss…the taste is irresistibly hot… okay, now, let me bring you to the snacks / light foodstuffs that i enjoy…a must-have for me are the currypuffs from this ‘Nenek Orang Kampung’ stall…yaa…she put sausages as fillings for the ‘Karipap Hotdog’…innovative, right?!! i also like to buy this Percik Gravy Grilled Fishballs…simply marvellous… a healthy choice would be Wizam Pau…i love the savoury ones either Chicken or Beef steamed pau… not so healthy choices are Samosa (at Pakcik Alim stall – the pakcik this time is wearing kupiah)…
also not so healthy snacks are the Keropok Lekor at Pakcik Kurus Misai & Makcik Gemuk’s stall… back to healthy options are the steamed mini Apom Tapai and sweet mini cup jellies at the Kakak Pregnant stall…but now that Kakak has already delivered her baby (the name does not tally anymore laa kan)… another healthy option snacks that I like are the wet Popiah S. S. Ali…the fried ones are not so healthy choice…ahh well…the wet ones are the crowd pullers anyway… Murtabak Erina is the best murtabak…or rather, they have cute looking murtabak sellers (a cute pakcik with his 3 cute sons)… ohh…actually, it was raining (maybe in the late afternoon)…that’s why i can’t seem to locate my 4 other favourite stalls…1) the rm1.20 per small, clear glass cup Fried Kuey Teow stall (a makcik with her daughter)… 2) the maize stall selling all varieties (steamed corn in cup, boiled corn on the cob, grilled corn and even popcorn)… 3)the fresh soya bean stall with the best tau foo fah and cendol (Makcik Soya Van)… 4)the char kuay stall (they even sell their char kuays at Kuala Kangsar’s Sunday morning market)…

finally, i’ll end this entry with the drinks i like at Taman Maju night market…my recommendations would be either to have Coconut Shake at Ashpey Corner…a refreshing mixture of Vanilla ice-cream with some evaporated milk and young coconut juice with crushed ice…so wonderfully nice… or take the fresh fruit juices offered by Abang Gaban’s stall… it is better without ice…two thumbs up for Honey Mango and Kedondong juices

...my 7 wonders...

I was tagged by Faiz …I think I’ve read this tag of Hana’s and Yus’s version…so, let’s begin:

no 1) I choose tomato ketchup over chilli sauce for burgers, nuggets, fritters, crackers, etcetera…my favourite tomato ketchup brand: Del Monte / Heinz…

no 2) I sleep still and prefer without fan/air-conditioner on since I don’t sweat much…I sleep with IiBear and no blanket…However, in any fan/air-conditioned situation, I will cover up my whole body from top to toe with a comforter…I don’t sleep much…at no14, I’m the last to snooze and I’ll be the first to wake up…I don’t take afternoon catnap…the one problem when my sleep deprivation occurs, I’ll definitely blacked out and nothing can ever wakes me up again until my body stabilized my sleeping balance…

no 3) I change my hair colour every 4 months…I’m unsure of the hukum (no exact fatwa regarding this)…but, it makes me happy everytime…my current hair shade: Copper Red…

no 4) I drive really really fast when nobody’s looking (i.e. I’m driving alone or my passenger(s) is/are sleeping)…I dislike people judging the way I drive…I never offer a ride/lift but I won’t say ‘No’ whenever people ask for it(I just hesitate a bit)…I’d rather let other people to drive simply because I don’t want to be responsible…I only drive my family and close friends…most of the time, I only connect with ‘Ryan’ – only the two of us…I drive for pleasure and I don’t like to share…say I’m selfish but I just need my time alone with ‘Ryan’…

no 5) I don’t like clothes related jobs – washing, drying, folding…I simply send all my clothes to Oi Ping Laundry or my mama…however, I love to iron…I even ironed my towel and telekung and socks, you name it…

no 6) I never allow myself to borrow other people’s money…if I had to, then I’ll repay as soon as possible…on the contrary, I won’t collect the money I lend to others and I don’t even bother to ask…it’s up to them to pay or not…there are people who has taken advantage regarding this weakness of me but this is who I am…and I do believe what goes around comes around…do unto others what you would have others do unto you…

no 7) I have 3 coin boxes and I try to save my leftover coins everyday…I have a Garu figurine coin box (in my office), a metal coin box (at no14) and a Bear coin box (in Klang)…whenever any of my coin box is full, I will deposit them into CIMB savings account respectively…this has always impressed the bank service agents at the counter…

ohh well…I’ve more lovely weird facts but only 7 can be shared here…the message: know me more to love me even more…yaa…

7 wonderful friends to continue this tag:
Bearbear, Erin, Harni, Ifah, Limau, Naimun and Salwa

...ice angels...

hoyeahh...last sunday, i had a great outing with the Diva Gedik Angels (DGA)...we went for an ice-skating adventure at Sunway Pyramid Ice Skating Rink...

since most of us were first-timers (including me), we were indescribably excited and overwhelmed...the earlybirds (me, Ahya, Niza, Shim, Yulie and Kak Ayu) had our breakfast at J.Co Donuts & Cafe...i went to taste their new variant - Mona Piza...

...Niza & me at J.Co...
at around 1030am, i received a call from FarrahIz telling me that she's already went inside the rink and will wait for me there...not so long after that, we met with the late angels (Chuna, Dewi and As) at KFC restaurant...
finally, we headed inside Sunway Pyramid Ice at 1130am...the 1st ice drying/cleaning session was scheduled at 12pm...so, we only had +/- 20 mins for our first skating tryout session...
i took my first step on the rink with FarrahIz's assistance...with FarrahIz's aid and 2 falls, i managed to finish my first round of the ice rink in 10mins...
according to FarrahIz, it was her 1st time too...but, somehow she managed to skate as she's already familiar with rollerblading...mind you, i've never let myself play with such dangerous sports (frankly, i was scared/frightened back then thinking of getting injured)...
before the 1st rest, i successfully completed 2 rounds...hee...
...me, Niza, Yulie, Kak Ayu and Dewi...
...Dewi, me, As (in between us), Shim, Kak Ayu, Yulie and Ahya...
at 1230pm, i went for my 2nd skating session...again with FarrahIz...had 2 more rounds with her before she bade farewell to me and the angels as she had promised her mum to help in the preparation of a kenduri at her house that evening...
my next patient guide was Shim...haa...you see, Shim was also a 1st-timer but managed to grasp the concept of skating as she's also familiar with rollerblading...
with Shim, i finished another round before we stopped for the 2nd rest...by this time, Tiffa had arrived...Tiffa and As were the gurus of this ice-skating...whoaa!

...cool me...
during our 2nd rest, Ahya had an injury (a swollen at her left wrist)...Yulie tried to soothe the bump using a small wrapped ice...Ahya called her boyfriend to fetch her and left at around 130pm...Dewi also left us saying that she encountered backpain and needed a massage...
Yulie and Kak Ayu decided to go shopping while the rest went for the 3rd session...this time, again with Shim, i finished another 2 rounds...yeay...
Chuna, Niza, Shim and me got out of the rink at around 210pm leaving our gurus...we went to the surau for Zohor prayer...
nearly 3pm, the DGA met once again for our late lunch date at Kenny Rogers Roasters...
...Tiffa and As (our iceskating gurus)...
...me, Chuna and Niza waiting for our lunch at KRR...
our day ended at around 430pm and i went back to Klang exhaustily happy happy...DGA rocks!

...quantum kelate...

today was a fantastic day...i've been rejuvenated...

in the early morning, my big boss made a surprise offer for a 'teh tarik' session at NZ bistro (next to Public Bank, Jalan Ampang)...we had a really fun time chitchatting on Indonesia's shopping stories...more on teak furnitures...this has got to do with the planning of attending Dewi's wedding reception in December...i won't be joining though since i've yet to attend my other friend's wedding reception that same day as Dewi's...

back to the office, Erin spilled on her reviews for 'Budak Kelantan'...having convinced of the worthness of watching the said, i quickly asked harni out and the expected reply came...yeay...

so, during lunchtime, since i'm already full, i happily volunteered to purchase our tickets...the queue was very long as most people were eager to watch the new bond movie series - quantum of solace...though i am also tempted to watch this movie, i didn't put much hope on getting the ticket today as they were selling really really fast (there were about 17 showtimes...but still...)

when i nearly approached the ticket counter, i called Harni to ask whether she's interested to accompany me for a straight 2nd movie...i later found out that the genre was off her preference...okay...then, i'll just settle myself in...

and so it goes - 'Budak Kelantan' at 5pm (Harni and me) and Quantum of Solace at 710pm (only me)...was lucky actually to pick my seat for the bond movie...

at first, the ticket guy just shook his head when i asked,"Seat OK tak 007 pukul 710?"

"Saye tengok sorang je bang..."

"Owh...Kalau sorang, bole laa selit2 kat atas ni...Nak?!!"

my heart leaped up with joy upon hearing this...yeay...

attending technical talk that evening, i just can't force myself to concentrate...finished off my work at around 430pm and quickly dashed my way to the surau...already made promise to Harni to meet up at the entrance...

and now, my reviews...

'Budak Kelantan' was okay...the message was very clear...i'm expecting the story to be more dramatic...but the plot was too fast...within 2-3 days, Mr Amareka has been able to reveal his darkside world to his soooo very humble childhood friend (never misses prayers)...i personally think that the death of the main cast should be more tragic...and one thing that i'm yet to figure out the logic was the inclusion of a fairy tale ending of the good guy and the amoi...what's the relevance?!!anyway, it was quite an enjoyable movie for me being able to understand the dialect directly independent of the subtitles...i'm a 'Budak Kelantan' myself...heee...

'Budak Kelantan' ended earlier than expected at around 630pm...so, i got plenty of comfortable time to perform my Maghrib prayer...

met with FarrahIz at the surau and was delighted to know that she's watching 007 as well with her officemates...

quantum of solace was okay too...stunts were great...a lot of fires and explosions - very typical...the movie manage to include all modes of transportation in 'firing & chasing' scenes - starts with the Aston Martin DBS chasing an Alfa Romeo (tunnel scene plus hilly terrains) - with huge trailers and trucks and police cars into a quarry...then, there was the speedboat scene at the harbour...next on the list was a huge carrier airplane with a chasing fighter jet scene...not much of sex scenes or maybe there is but have been filtered out...frankly, i think for an agent/detective movie, the storyline should emphasize more on the investigation part, though i found that the high-tech, touch, digitalized search screen is quite impressive... as for the action-wise, i vote for die hard movie series...maybe...just maybe because i prefer bruce willis than daniel craig...willis is far more macho and tougher...

all in all, i like this part:

"bond, i want you back..."

"i never left..."

enough said, i am pleased to recommend all of you to go and watch the quantum of solace...would rate it as 4.27 star...'Budak Kelantan' only appeals to the malay films supporter... a good film that can be improved further...would rate it at 3.46 star...

looking forward to watch 'Selamat Pagi Cinta' soon...and also 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'...not to forget, to bring my adorable niece and nephews to watch 'Madagascar 2'...

...ryan has been raked ;(

i should be sleeping right now...but, i just can't seem to...why?!!
simply because ryan has just been raked...
for nearly 38 days, i've been really really careful, caring and pampering ryan like holding a tray full of oil...
alas, today ryan got 2 bruises...sobsob...makes me feel really down...furthermore, i'm quite stressed lately...i've just finished sitting for 3 heriot watt exam papers...still exhausted from the long journey back from UTP...ohh people, i need to rest since i have to go to work tomorrow...
how can i sleep when ryan suffers?alaaaa....
you see, the incident happened at the traffic light at Jalan Genting Kelang (at the junction to Kenny Rogers - OM Fruits & Juices)...i always hate motorcyclists who happily squeezing in between cars when the traffic light stopped...and there appear this one motorcyclist with a passenger carrying a long steel - it's a rake (a gardening tool) came and rested next to ryan...
and suddenly, the passenger lost his balance and there goes the rake hitting the side front bumper of my precious ryan..."gedegangg!"
he held up his hand and the rake as well (partly saying sorry)...and the traffic light turned green...they left me and ryan...
ohh ryan, are you okay? (i questioned myself deep in my heart)...
back to No14, i quickly examined ryan and found his 2 bruises...sobsob...
i'm really really sad and down...the upper one is around 5mm diameter bruise while the lower one is approximately 3.5mm diameter bruise...
need to face the reality...ohh well...
will touch up on sunday, i guess...jemi will know what have to be done...
i'm down~~~
i'm sad~~~
sobsob... ;(
